So long as we have enough people in this country willing to fight
for their rights, we'll be called a democracy.
- Roger Baldwin, Founder ACLU
Our second year! We elect a new Board and
new Officers.
The Chico Chapter celebrated the completion of their first year by
holding our annual membership meeting at Cafe Culture in Chico on
July 24. We were honored to have Abdi Soltani, the Executive
Director of the ACLU of Northern California as our keynote speaker
at the event. Development Director Shayna Gellender also
attended the annual meeting. It was a great event, and
energized our new board and the membership.
On August 10, we had our first board meeting, and new officers were
elected by your board of directors. They are:
William Sheridan - Chairperson
Hayley Wallace - Co-Chairperson
Leslie Johnson - Secretary
Lupe Law - Treasurer
Greg Burton - Chapter Representative
Amro Jayousi - Alternate Chapter Rep
Richard Judkins - Media Representative
We look forward to another great year of activism!

Chico ACLU launches a Spanish language web page!
The Chico Chapter of the ACLU again takes the lead. Our new
Spanish language web page provides a comprehensive resource to our
Hispanic population with important links and documents to assist
this underserved group in our community.
We are very proud and honored to be able to provide not only the web
page but to provide access to a fluent Spanish speaking board member
to assist our Hispanic and Spanish speaking immigrant population.
